As I knew the Linn is the best bit of the river at this level, and I was short of time anyway, I spent all my time at the Linn, and didn`t go down the river.
Eight different routes down the Linn !
On channel one, there is the usual run down hard left, past the big diagonal wave. It is one to watch, as the water is flowing diagonally left to right, and tries to wash you into the big wave.
The second channel has two ways down - on the left, there is a drop into very aerated water. Running it with a right to left diagonal route worked well. There was the usual route down the fast shoot on the hard right hand side - running the ramp with a right to left route keeps you out of the worst excesses of the wall on your right.
The third channel has a nice run down on the left side, but it proved to be a wee bit rocky.
The fourth channel has four routes down it. On the left side there is a quite a big hole, and on each side of the hole there is a rock shoulder with enough water to paddle down. So very hard left takes you over the narrow shoulder on the left - I didn`t keep far enough left, and at the last minute slid sideways in to the hole.
The hole itself is much easier to blast through that it looks as if it is going to be.
I got a good line down over the right hand shoulder by running down with a strong diagonally left to right line.
Over on the right hand side of this channel there is just enough water to get a run down over the rocks.
All of which makes eight.
The Linn bypass is running, but probably not worth the effort, the first exit is quite bony at the bottom end, and the second exit is definitely not worth trying the fight with the trees.
The wall just has water coming over one small bit of it, and produced some good taillies.
There was surfing to be had, not the best, but it was there.
