Further down towards a summer level, and this was just a quickie park-n-play at the Linn and the weir.
Again, only the main channel river left has any water, and there is even less in that this week. The wave/hole wasn`t really surfable.
There was another slight hole just upstream to the left right against the rocks, it wasn`t really much use either.
A bit too low for taillies
The damage done to the river left end of the weir is even more apparent at this level - there is still a "river" flowing down it.
And miracles do happen - with the further drop in the river level from last week, the surfing waves have appeared, and the first wave was great for surfing. You could sit on it all day.
But it has changed from last year - instead of all the water coming straight down into the trough, there is a substantial cushion or ridge running down into the trough, and the water is running off this ridge off to the right.
It is quite easy to get on to the wave.
Standing on the weir and looking down on it, the wave looked remarkably flat - in fact it looked too flat for surfing.
However maybe the summer playing is going to be okay after all !
