A stormy day - a lot of wind and a wild sea - and a very exposed walk up the coastal path from Porth Dafarch above the cliffs.
The wild sea in Porth Dafarch -
A while after leaving Porth Dafarch, and away round the bay outside Porth Dafarch - looking back at the cliffs - Porth Dafarch is in the break in the cliffs near the centre of the photograph -
A bit further round the coastline there is Dinas stack with its hill fort - very spectacular when viewed from Penrhyn Mawr, but not so good looking from closer up.
There is an arch on the west side of it that seems to generate the most severe sea conditions in it because the sides taper in towards the arch, so any waves are magnified by the time they get into the arch itself.
And right in the middle of the arch there is a huge boulder - and the waves crash over it within the confines of the arch.
Doesn`t look all that bad in this photograph - but it really is evil in there -
Looking further up the coast towards Penrhyn Mawr - with the wind and the big sea it doesn`t look like the famous tidal playspot that it usually is -
That was about as far as I went - the wind was getting so strong by now that it was becoming increasingly difficult to make any real progress further along the cliff tops totally exposed to the wind. So back to Porth Dafarch.
