A grey morning, but by lunchtime it seemed to be brightening up - there was still a lot of cloud sitting over Snowdonia, so I went off to Holyhead Mountain.
A lot better visibility than on my previous visit - most of the way up, and some nice lighting away out to sea - it wasn`t dark, it is just the autoexposure on my toy camera that can`t handle big contrast ranges -
Up on the summit now, and a quite good view out to the Skerries -
Good visibility down to the south - looking across to Rhoscolyn Head and the islands around it, and also the bit of coastline between Ravenspoint and Rhoscolyn Head that has the famous White Arch and the infamous Black Arch -
Further down the coast, past Rhosneigr, past the peninsula that doesn`t have a coastal path, and Llanddwyn Island quite clear -
It is a surprisingly long way from the top of Holyhead Mountain all the way down to the tip of North Stack, and the path has some very steep bits in it, so rather slow going at times.
As you head down you gradually see more of South Stack, well down on the way to North Stack, and a decent view of South Stack, although by now there was a big sheet of dense grey cloud overhead, so the pictures are becoming increasingly lifeless -
Right down on North Stack down below the signalling station, and a bit of a view looking into Parliament House Cave - as near to the edge as I dared go without a tether.
You get a sense of scale of the size of the cave by comparing it to the signalling station up on the top left of the picture -
Really struggling with light levels now, for a last look across to South Stack before heading away -
Halfway back across to South Stack, and it is well down towards darkness - a last dark view back to North Stack and the huge cliffs of Gogarth Bay -
