out and about - 2018

12 July 2018 .............. Porth Nobla

A rather strange twist to the weather today produced - according to the rainfall satellite pictures - a narrow band of rain that stretched right up the full length of Wales from somewhere round Porthcawl on the south coast right up to somewhere round Rhyl on the north coast.

Anglesey escaped it, and we had quite a good day, and in the evening I cycled out to Porth Nobla and had a swim - it was a good one - it felt quite cold when I first went in, but in fact it was okay, and I stayed in for quite a while.

The cloud was slowly building up all the time I was there, and produced a rather nice lighting effect looking out from the back of the beach, with Rhoscolyn Beacon and Rhoscolyn Head away at the back -

It is a nice wee beach, but the atmosphere is spoilt a bit by the line of houses right along the back - maybe it is the thought of somebody watching everything that is going on on the beach.

It doesn`t seem to put other people off, as it gets plenty of visitors - too many, in fact - now there are parking charges at both Porth Trecastell and at Tywyn Fferam, Porth Nobla gets far more visitors than can safely park off road, and you get some crazy parking along the A4080.

When the estate that owns the car parks at Porth Trecastell and at Tywyn Fferam applied for permission to put up the parking meters, there was quite a bit of concern raised within the council that people would park on the roadside instead of using the car parks, and this is exactly what is happening all along that bit of the A4080 now.

Along the road at the southern corner of Rhosneigr now looking south down the coast - Porth Nobla is the furthest away beach right in the middle of the picture -

Round in the other direction, and some more good lighting looking out towards Rhoscolyn again -
