A view of the rather dramatic Dylife Gorge which lies off to the north or east of the mountain road between Llanidloes and Machynlleth - a somewhat classic example of a valley being formed by glacial action.
It appears that before the ice age, the Afon Twymyn didn`t flow through the gorge, but after the ice age, the river adopted a new route through the gorge, so the gorge was mostly formed by glacial action, but with subsequent erosion by the river enjoying its new route.
I gather that there is a significant waterfall somewhere in the river - the Ffrwd Fawr waterfall, but you don`t see it from the roadside.
It was a beautiful morning, and I was looking forward to the views from the top of the mountain road - however it wasn`t to be, as beyond the top of the hill there was a lot of cloud around, so no views of anything distant at all.
A bit of a shame as you can get superb views across to the Arans and Cader Idris - or Cadair Idris if you prefer that spelling.
Even Moelwyn Mawr had a hat on.
