out and about - 2018

28 February 2018 .............. A wintry Llyn Padarn

Anglesey was enjoying a chilly but bright afternoon, with blue sky, no snow, and wall-to-wall sunshine.

However over in Llanberis it was totally the opposite, with fine powder snow showers blowing down Llanberis high street, pavements covered in hard packed snow, and so few people about that I could park right in the middle of the town.

Llyn Padarn was looking about as grey and wintry as it is possible to look - in fact it was so grey and colourless that the pictures looked mostly monochrome, and any small areas of colour stood out like a sore thumb.

So I finished the job that nature had started, and went for total monochrome - I am not sure if you get the same brownie points for changing what might be a colour picture into a monochrome picture as you do if you shoot in monochrome in the first place, but I am rather pleased with the way they have come out, the monochrome seems to capture the atmosphere so well, far better than the colour pictures did.
