The Sygun Copper Mine is down near to Beddgelert - and it is completely different from the Parys Mountain copper mine.
The Parys Mountain copper mine is a huge hole in the ground - actually two holes in the ground - up on a very exposed hilltop in the northern end of Anglesey, and your view of it is from wide tracks around the very large site.
The Sygun copper mine is in a rather shut in location surrounded by hills - and the mine is entirely underground - so you view it from inside the tunnels - it is great fun if you like that sort of thing.
Not really surprisingly, it is quite dark inside, with a series of electric wall lights to give you just enough light to see your way - and I am afraid that my camera was no match for the dark, even the flash didn`t seem to help.
I took loads of pictures, but this is the only one that actually shows anything - it is a bit of a cavern where they have put a bit more light to show off the stalactites, and a tunnel that heads off into the darkness.
It is a bit annoying, because if you surf the internet you can find lots of pictures of the inside of the mine, and they seem to have plenty of light - maybe I need a better camera, or maybe whoever took them had some extra lights with them, I don`t know.
There also seems to be features that I didn`t see.
But apart from the lack of pictures, if becoming a two legged mole and climbing endless rusty staircases turns you on, it is worth a visit.
