The high pressure that has dominated our weather for what seems like forever goes on and on - I long for a deep low bringing wind and rain for a change, so we can get away from this foul cold, damp, and stale air that has sat over us now for weeks - stuck right in the middle of the land mass 50 or 60 miles from the sea is a pretty miserable existence.
How do people survive when they live in the middle of huge continental land masses hundreds or thousands of miles from the sea ?
However the weather has produced some good sunsets, and today was exceptionally good with some intense colour, and it just went on and on - I was trying to fix a door lock on my van, so had numerous trips up and down the stairs to photograph the sunset from the upstairs bedroom window, and then down again to work on the lock.
It started fairly innocuously, with just a hint of colour, and as it went on, I took several photos as it progressed -
The sunset appeared to be dying down, but then it went into phase two, with much more colour, mostly yellow and orange -
Quite apart from the now strong colour was the width of the sunset - it was well over 180 degrees wide - even a fish-eye lens wouldn`t have captured it all - this is away round to the left -
and away round to the right looking through the rooftops, up over Glen Turret -
Because of the cloud formations, I could get a quite different view of the lighting in the clouds but using a much tighter angle of view -
Getting some red now -
I couldn`t cycle up the back lane because I still had my van in bits, but I nipped along the road to a bit of waste ground which I expect one day will have more houses on it - it provided a different viewpoint for some more pictures.
Getting close to the end now, with the colour getting lower and lower above the horizon, but still some intense colour -
The last picture that is worth showing - taken some 55 minutes after the first picture - that is a long sunset !
