out and about - 2016
15 August 2016 ............ Back to Ardrossan again
Around Ardrossan again, and another sunlit view of the granite balls - maybe the pc brigade would prefer the name granite spheres.
The boat in the background is the MV Caledonian Isles.
If you are a fan of Cal Mac ferries, here`s a closer view.
The sunshine and clouds were combining to highlight some of the shapes of the mountains on Arran, although it is a pity that they were wearing a sun hat.
Looking away up the coast to the north -
It was up the coast to the north that I then headed, there is a cycle path that goes away up the coast - I don`t know how far it goes, I did a bit of it, then dropped down onto the beach for the inevitable teabreak.
This is looking across to a low flat island to the north of Ardrossan harbour called Horse Isle - it is now a nature reserve, and in the past has collected quite a few ship wrecks.
The triangular thing is a stone beacon, and was erected to ward off shipping.
The south end of Arran and Holy Isle are in the background.
The MV Caledonian Isles is heading away to Brodick, with Ailsa Craig in the background.
Looking away up the coast to the north again, before heading back.
