Up on the headland at Ardeer, and some fabulous visibility out over the sea to Ailsa Craig.
More great visibility out to the west over to Arran.
A closer view of the mountains all around Goatfell.
Several decades ago, long before I got involved in Munro and Corbett bagging, I climbed Goatfell, and was amazed about how challenging some parts of it are. I have a vague recollection of traversing around a huge pillar on a very steep and loose gritty slope - if I had slipped I would have had a very long and painful slide. It was quite scary.
Then when you are up on Goatfell, you can look down on this pillar like a giant tooth looking up at you. It would all be quite at home in the Cuillins.
Maybe it would be worth another visit, if my aging joints would allow me to get up there !
