This rather strange weather we have been having goes on and on - this evening the sun finally dropped down below the heavy grey cloud that was covering most of the sky, and gave a foretaste of the sunset that was to come.
Now as I said a couple of days ago I have been unable to work out what I was seeing along the Gower coast, and showed this photograph.
Well with the aid of binoculars and a map, sitting up on the hill watching the sunset, I have now worked it out.
The far away headland on the left side of the picture is at Port Eynon Point.
The next headland is the headland just round from Oxwich Point.
The next, and rather obvious, headland is Pwlldu Head - it looks as if it might be worth a visit.
This evening I was just able to make out Whiteshell Point and Snaple Point, and along a bit more I could see the headland and the lighthouse at Mumbles Head.
So that is all that identified.
Well that all took a while, and the sunset has moved on and is beginning to get a bit of colour in it.
Some nice shafts of light showing up, as the sun slowly drops down towards a bank of cloud.
I have moved along the coast a bit, so a different viewpoint, and the colours began to get more pronounced as the sun dropped down below the cloud bank.
As the sun dropped lower, the colours became stronger and stronger -
In the last stages now, and as the area of colour shrank in size, the colours seem to get stronger - but it all took a long time, it was quite surprising that it lasted for such a long time.
