out and about - 2015

27 February 2015 .............. Porthgain

I finished the webpage about Abereiddi with a sign, and I`ll start this page with a sign - because Abereiddi and Porthgain were connected by a tramway which carried all the spoil from the quarry at Abereiddi to Porthgain, where it was processed - here is the sign, and a potted history.

So as you can see, Porthgain has quite an industrial history - some of the buildings -

Round at the other side of the harbour, and here is the slipway - I assume that there is public access to it, and there is quite a lot of parking to be had, so it looks like Porthgain could be a useful launch point.
