A few pictures taken around Amlwch harbour - this is the innermost part of the harbour, which is in a deep natural inlet into the coast, and as you can see, it dries out at low tide.
The innermost harbour is the oldest and original harbour at Amlwch - the harbour has three distinct zones, with the zones being added outwards as the traffic through the harbour grew considerably. Amlwch harbour was the main port for the export of copper from the giant copper mines around Parys Mountain - at one time the biggest copper mine in Europe.
This is part of the outer harbour -
Up above the harbour now, and looking down on the outer harbour.
Further along the cliff tops to the east of the harbour, looking back across the harbour entrance to the headland that bounds the west side of the harbour, with East Mouse clearly visible, and just making an appearance, Middle Mouse can also be seen.
I have never found out what all the buildings are on the headland.
Further along the coast to the east, and looking along the coast to the lighthouse on Point Lynas.
