30 April 2014 ............ The Swellies

A predicted tidal range of 5.1 metres at Holyhead suggested that the Swellies might be worth a visit - and the wave was in excellent humour.

It started right on cue, and I had about 45 minutes of good play time except for the fact that it was very variable - in just a few seconds it could completely change shape.

However after that it was getting a bit chunky, and just about then the playboats started to arrive, and soon there were three of them.

Around the same time one of these longer sea kayaks that are sold for the sort of speed and distance training also arrived.

Now I have to say, that if I was looking for a new sea play boat, I really wouldn`t have one of these types of sea kayaks on my shopping list.

However Aled Williams in a Pace 18 showed that I was wrong to be so narrow minded - he popped on to the wave, and there he stayed, whilst the playboats came and went.

It was quite impressive to see both 1.8 metre playboats and a 5.5 metre sea boat sitting on the same wave at the same time.
