16 May 2013 .............. Cemaes to Dinas Gynfor

I was doing stuff in the house, and didn`t realise what a fine day it was - until lunchtime. Then having found out how good it was outside, it was a quick lunch and quick pack, and off to Cemaes for a quickie paddle.

It was lovely - here`s looking ahead to Llanbadrig Head bathed in sunshine.

As I mentioned in my blog about my previous evening trip along this bit of coast, after Llanbadrig Head, there are two un-named headlands, then the bay Porth Llanlleiana, then the most northerly headland in Anglesey, Dinas Gynfor - otherwise known as Llanlleiana Head.

So further along, this is looking along towards the third headland.

After the third headland, you head into Llanlleiana Bay, and begin to see the ruined porcelain factory.

If you climb up the path a bit, you can look down on the ruined factory.

Looking out from the beach, the side of Dinas Gynfor curves around, and beyond it Middle Mouse is seen.

Beyond Porth Llanlleiana - there it is - Dinas Gynfor, or Llanlleiana Head.

On the way back along the coast, I discovered two caves that I don`t recall seeing before between the two un-named headlands. This is looking towards that bit of the coast.

They are both very deep caves, and can be paddled into for part of the way. This is the entrance to the easterly one, which is quite narrow.

This is the entrance to the wider cave -

And inside the cave - looking into the narrow second part, and outwards.

From a bit further out, there appears to be four caves - the two on the left are the ones I have just described, the two on the right are not really caves , more just indents that look like caves.

On the way back I wasn`t really in a hurry, and I paddled further out - I came across a large whirlpool. It was quite a benign whirlpool, it wasn`t going to eat me - but the far side of it had a very distinct line where the whirlpool ended and the ebb tidal current started.

More interestingly, the middle was completely smooth, and I paddled out into it, and sat there. I was far enough out from the coast to get quite a good view of the coast and the various headlands, so I got my camera out to take some more pictures - and that was when the memory card was full, and I couldn`t take any more pictures. Which was a pity, as they could have been good.

But it was an excellent afternoon.
