05 October 2012 .............. Falls of Lora

I went for another early morning play at the Falls of Lora this morning - I knew it was a bit a gamble. The predicted tide height was 3.7 metres and the previous low tide wasn`t particularily low, so it wasn`t a big tidal range.

The loch was quite high, I think probably because of all the rain. The tide height was quite a bit above the predicted height, almost as big as yesterday.

It would have have been nice to say that it was good surfing - but I can`t, it wasn`t good.

The surfing wasn`t good - the surfing was fantastic !

I only had two shots on the wave, the first one last 5 or 10 minutes or so, I forgot to count, but I must have managed about 15 or so paddle twirls.

The second shot was ........ I don`t know how long it lasted, but I set a new record for paddle twirls - 84.

84 paddle twirls on one shot of the wave. I think I`m going to write to the Guinness book of records.

By the time I had done all that, the wave had just about collapsed under me, so I went out to the middle waves. Couldn`t catch the first wave, the second wave gave me several minutes of surfing, and I got in three paddle twirls before I lost it. I went round again, but it was finished.

What an amazing morning !
