ron-t climbing

15 September 2019 ................ Beinn Lora

An afternoon trip up Beinn Lora, and just like my last time up a hill, with blue sky and sunshine - but there was so much haze and ultraviolet light that it wasn`t good for pictures.

A very hazy view down the Firth of Lorne from one of the viewpoints on the way up the track -

About two thirds of the way up, the well made track comes to an abrupt end at a sign - only 900 metres to go -

Looking up at the summit from that point - looks like quite a straight forward climb up -

Well it turns out it isn`t - it is a pretty awful bit of walking and climbing - it starts by dropping away back down - and then there is the bog. And this is some bog - after the wettest August on record the bog was absolutely sodden - fortunately there are a couple of wooden bridges over a couple of streams, apart from that it was squelch, squelch, squelch.

Up on the summit at last, looking away down Loch Creran, over the north end of Lismore, and across to Kingairloch -

A good view up Loch Etive and across to Cruachan -

And so away back down again.
