Wales - 2015

07 April 2015 ........... Fan Fawr

I took advantage of the great weather just after Easter, and headed south - in the evening I went for a quickie climb up Fan Fawr, a fairly isolated summit in the Brecon Beacons.

You get some good open views in all directions, but the view from Fan Fawr doesn`t really show off the two highest summits in the Brecon Beacons, Pen y Fan and Corn Du - in fact you can`t see Pen y Fan at all, it is hidden beyond Corn Du.

Looking away to the west, a rather hazy view because of the low sun -

The summit of Fan Fawr has two parts - the higher summit is at the northeast end, the other summit is further away to the south west, and is where the OS trig point is.

The trig point has been rather nicely decorated with four Welsh Dragons - one on each side. They were beautifully done, some one has taken a lot of trouble over them.
